Pray Like You Mean It (7 Lines/ 7 Days #26)

 #108Weeks

November 8 - 14, 2020

Today the world feels wonderfully different. Everything is lighter,
not the foreboding feeling I've had for years.

Surprise home from school day. Storm has been raging all night.

Read one of my favorite Regina Brett essays: "Pray Like You Mean It."
It brought so much clarity.

This election stuff is scary and unproductive and putting us all at risk.

It is such a strange week!

Prayed for our country to make a positive step forward today.
We need a calm transition.

Results are final: 306-232

Sunday Rain (7 Lines/7 Days #13)

 #108 Weeks

August 9-15, 2020

Sunday rain

Heard the call

Everything Changed

"Either we connect to the deeper roots of imagination and become greater vessels for genuine visions and the flow of life, or else we shrink and become trapped in ever smaller patterns and fearful containers."

Everything changed in 24 hours.

"Adversity reveals genius. Prosperity conceals it."

I was jamming myself into a smaller vessel. I was focused on what wasn't going to be, instead of using my ingenuity to create anew.

Now my classroom calls to me. It is where I need to be.

Resilience

Rooting Down

Radical Acceptance

Do the next right thing.

"There's a Rainbow in the Sky"

Many, many inspirations today.

Began with this photo:

Continued with Joy Harjo's poem "In Praise of Earth," these lines in particular:

And this Earth keeps faithfully to her journey, carrying us around the Sun,
All of us in our rags and riches, our rages and promises, small talk and suffering...

I wrote:

Everything has become fodder for
writing, a spark point. There is
a multi-dimensional aspect and
depth to uncover in everything I read.
In a time of great disparity, suffering,
loneliness, and rage,
my mind pierces the possible.
I am highly aware
that the promised moment
from many years ago
has come, when I saw,
during a shamanic journey,
the rainbow, heard the words
 "You're the great integrator."

And today I was taken by the breathtaking
photo of a rainbow over Chicago.

I've received the sign of hope and renewal.
The painting in the sky.
This is for me.

I accept the challenge.

Then, this poem I read every day took on deeper meaning:

Cut brambles long enough,
Sprout after sprout,
And the lotus will bloom
Of its own accord:
Already waiting in the clearing,
The single image of light.
The day you see this,
That day you will become it.
~Sun Bu-er~

I saw the rainbow.
The image of light.
And it was me.
"My life is full of color here
My mind is clear."

REST #8

Remembering to REST came in handy when the roads grew dark and rain-filled yesterday. I found a way to rest into safe driving.

Rain fell in torrents on I-95

Everyone slowed down, danger imminent

Slowly I rested into trailing a red Honda, letting it

Take me over the wet roads to Jacksonville

Year in Review 2024…and an Ending

For a while I have been finding it difficult to get myself to this blog. I will write entire things out in my journal that I think I want ...
